The present invention relates to a hybrid vehicle including an engine and a motor that serve as drive sources, and a method for controlling the hybrid vehicle. In the hybrid vehicle (1), in order to start up an engine (10), an ECU (100) executes one of first engine start-up control for starting up the engine (10) using a starter motor (30) and second engine start-up control for starting up the engine (10) by coupling the engine (10) to drive wheels (70) using a clutch (K0) while the hybrid vehicle is traveling. The ECU (100) notifies the user of information for prompting the user to stop the hybrid vehicle (1) in a predetermined notification mode using a notification apparatus, when the ECU determines that the following conditions i) and ii) are both satisfied while the hybrid vehicle travels in an electric mode, i) a motor generator (30) is in a malfunctioning state, and the engine (100) needs to be started up, and ii) a speed of the hybrid vehicle (1) is lower than a threshold.

    하이브리드 차량(1)에 있어서, 엔진(10)을 시동시키기 위해서, ECU(100)는, 스타터 모터(30)를 사용해서 상기 엔진(10)을 시동하는 제1 엔진 시동 제어와, 상기 하이브리드 차량(1)의 주행 중에 클러치(K0)를 사용해서 상기 엔진(10)과 상기 구동륜(70)을 연결시켜서 상기 엔진(10)을 시동하는 제2 엔진 시동 제어 중 어느 것을 실행한다. 상기 ECU(100)는, 전동 주행 중에, 하기 조건 i) 및 ii)가 모두 만족되었다고 판정된 경우에, 통지 장치를 사용해서 상기 하이브리드 차량(1)을 정지시킬 것을 촉구하는 취지의 정보를 미리 정해진 통지 형태로 상기 유저에게 통지하도록 구성된다. i) 상기 모터 제너레이터(30)가 이상 상태이고, 또한 상기 엔진(10)의 시동이 필요, ii) 상기 하이브리드 차량(1)의 속도가 역치 미만이다.
