The present invention provides a battery management system for a vehicle, capable of preventing the current consumption of a battery by controlling a relay connected to an electronic load and the battery for preventing the overdischarge of the battery, and a controlling method thereof. The battery management system for a vehicle according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a sensing unit which measures a voltage and a current of the battery for the vehicle, the relay connected between the battery for the vehicle and electronic components of the vehicle, and a control unit which switches off the relay by receiving data from the sensing unit.

    본 발명은 배터리의 과방전을 방지하기 위하여 배터리와 전장 부하와 연결되는 릴레이를 제어함으로써 배터리의 전류소모를 방지하는 차량용 배터리 관리 시스템 및 그 제어 방법을 제공한다. 본 발명의 일실시예에 따른 차량용 배터리 관리 시스템은 차량용 배터리의 전류와 전압을 측정하는 감지부, 차량용 배터리와 차량의 전장품들 사이에 접속된 릴레이 및 상기 감지부로부터 데이터를 전송받아 상기 릴레이를 오프시키는 제어부를 포함한다.
