The present invention relates to an article transport device (1) and a maintenance operation method thereof. The article transport device (1) comprises: a support part (24) which supports a position detection device (29) for detecting the position of an object (12) to be detected; and a control device which performs a renewal control for renewing target position information based on the renewal command commanded by the artificial manipulation of a worker when maintenance works are performed at intervals longer than a setting period, and performs the renewal control with a condition that the elapse time after the renewal command is commanded reaches the automatic renewal time shorter than the setting period. Therefore, the present invention renews the target position information at a proper time.

    물품 반송 장치(1)의 지지부(24)는, 피검출체(12)의 위치를 검출하기 위한 위치 검출 장치(29)를 지지한다. 제어 장치는, 설정 기간보다 긴 간격으로 행해지는 보수 작업에 있어서 작업자의 인위적인 조작에 의해 지령되는 갱신 지령에 기초하여 목표 위치 정보의 갱신을 행하는 갱신 제어를 실행하고, 또한 갱신 지령이 지령되고 나서의 경과 시간이 설정 기간보다 짧은 시간인 자동 갱신용 시간에 도달한 것을 조건으로 갱신 제어를 실행한다.
