The present invention relates to an impact absorption structure of a steering column, improved to allow a steering column tube to have an impact absorption structure, thereby properly absorbing an impact load generated when a crash accident occurs. According to the present invention, the impact absorption structure of a steering column has an impact absorption means arranged between the outside of the steering column tube and a tilt bracket to absorb impact energy generated when a crash occurs. The impact absorption means comprises a slot, a fixed gear and an auxiliary slot. The slot is formed on the column tube through perforation in the longitudinal direction to allow the inside and the outside of the column tube to be connected. The fixed gear has one surface fittingly coupled to the slot and has multiple gear teeth formed on the other surface to be locked with the tilt bracket. The auxiliary slots are formed on positions, which are spaced at a proper distance, on the upper side and lower side of the slot through perforation in the longitudinal direction of the column tube.

    본 발명은 스티어링 컬럼 튜브에 충격흡수구조를 구비하여 컬럼 튜브가 충돌사고시 발생되는 충격 하중을 적절히 흡수할 수 있도록 그 구조가 개선된 스티어링 컬럼의 충격흡수구조체에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 스티어링 컬럼의 충격흡수구조체는, 스티어링 컬럼 튜브의 외측과 틸트 브라켓 사이에 충돌사고시 발생되는 충격에너지를 흡수하기 위한 충격흡수수단을 배치하되, 충격흡수수단은 컬럼 튜브에 내,외측이 연통되도록 길이방향으로 천공 형성되는 슬롯과, 일면이 슬롯에 끼워져 결합되고 타면에 틸트 브라켓과 록킹 결합되도록 다수의 기어이가 형성되는 고정기어와, 상기 슬롯의 상,하측에 적정 거리 이격된 위치에 컬럼 튜브에 대해 길이방향으로 천공 형성되는 보조슬롯을 구비한다.
