The present invention relates to a collision damping type steering apparatus for a vehicle, which comprises: a steering column; a tilting bracket coupled to an outer circumferential surface of the steering column; a mounting bracket coupled to the tilting bracket, and mediating coupling of the steering column with respect to a predetermined position of a vehicle body; a collision damping member coupled to the mounting bracket, and in case a collision of a vehicle is generated, a shape of the tilting bracket is changed to absorb a steering wheel pressurization force provided from an impact of a driver so as to perform relative motion from a predetermined position of a vehicle body with the steering column; and a load control means coupled to the collision damping member to control a collision load provided from a driver to the collision damping member in case a collision of a vehicle is generated. Thus, safety performance can be improved.
