The present invention relates to an electric vehicle charging system for preventing overcharging and a method thereof, which can prevent overcharging by automatically shutting off supply power if power close to full charging is charged in a battery of an electric car. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the system prevents overcharging to be prevented from exceeding the capacity of a battery when charging an electric vehicle and comprises: a vehicle information checking part checking information of a vehicle connected for charging; an SOC information collection part collecting SOC information for a battery of the vehicle while charging; a charging speed sensing part sensing the charging speed of the vehicle while charging; a limit speed prediction part predicting a charging limit speed at which charging is to end based on the SOC information and charging speed information; and a charging control part ending charging by shutting off supplied charging power if the charging speed reaches the limit speed. A charging process can be controlled to prevent electric vehicle batteries from being overcharged.

    본 발명은 전기 자동차의 배터리에 완전 충전에 가까운 전력이 충전된 경우 공급 전력을 자동으로 차단하여 과충전을 방지할 수 있는 전기차 충전 시스템과 그 방법에 관한 것으로, 본 실시예는, 전기차 충전시 배터리의 용량을 초과하지 않도록 과충전을 방지하는 시스템으로서, 충전을 위하여 접속한 차량의 정보를 확인하는 차량정보 확인부, 충전이 진행되는 차량의 배터리에 대한 SOC 정보를 수집하는 SOC 정보 수집부, 충전이 진행되는 차량의 충전속도를 감지하는 충전속도 감지부, SOC 정보 및 충전속도 정보에 근거하여 충전을 종료해야 할 충전 제한속도를 예측하는 제한속도 예측부, 및, 충전속도가 상기 제한속도에 이르는 경우 공급되는 충전 전력을 차단하여 충전을 종료하는 충전 제어부를 포함하여, 전기차 배터리의 과충전이 발생하지 않도록 충전 프로세스를 제어하도록 구성될 수 있다.
