The present invention relates to an automatic vehicle classification (AVC) apparatus to correctly measure the amount of road traffic. According to the present invention, the AVC apparatus comprises: a passage detection sensor installed on a road surface and detecting whether a vehicle has passed by a load sensed when the vehicle passes to transmit a detection signal; an image acquisition unit provided on a gate installed on a road and capturing an image of a vehicle passing through the gate to transmit an image signal; and a control unit reading the data received from the pass detection sensor and the data received from the image acquisition unit to determine the amount of road traffic. The pass detection sensor includes: a first load sensor installed in any one of a plurality of lanes partitioned by a center line and lanes coated on the road surface and detecting the load of a passing vehicle to transmit a passing signal; a second load sensor installed to maintain a predetermined distance in the same lane as that of the first load sensor and detecting the load of a passing vehicle to transmit a passing signal; a third load sensor installed on another road disposed adjacent to the road on which the first load sensor is installed, arranged side by side with the first load sensor, and detecting the load of a passing vehicle to transmits a passing signal; and a fourth load sensor installed to maintain a predetermined distance in the same lane as that of the third load sensor and detecting the load of the passing vehicle to transmit a passing signal.

    본 발명은, 도로면에 설치되고, 차량이 통과될 때에 감지되는 하중에 의해 차량의 통과여부를 감지하여 감지신호를 송신하는 통과감지센서; 도로에 설치되는 거치대에 구비되어 상기 거치대를 통과하는 차량의 영상을 촬영하여 영상신호를 송신하는 영상취득부; 및 상기 통과감지센서로부터 수신되는 데이터와, 상기 영상취득부로부터 수신되는 데이터를 판독하여 도로 교통량을 판단하는 제어부를 포함하고, 상기 통과감지센서는, 도로면에 도포되는 중앙선 및 차선에 의해 구획되는 복수 개의 차로 중 어느 하나의 차로에 설치되고, 통과되는 차량의 하중을 감지하여 통과신호를 송신하는 제1하중감지센서; 상기 제1하중감지센서와 동일한 차로에 일정 간격을 유지하도록 설치되고, 통과되는 차량의 하중을 감지하여 통과신호를 송신하는 제2하중감지센서; 상기 제1하중감지센서가 설치되는 차로에 인접하게 배치되는 다른 차로에 설치되고, 상기 제1하중감지센서와 나란히 배치되며, 통과되는 차량의 하중을 감지하여 통과신호를 송신하는 제3하중감지센서; 및 상기 제3하중감지센서와 동일한 차로에 일정 간격을 유지하도록 설치되고, 통과되는 차량의 하중을 감지하여 통과신호를 송신하는 제4하중감지센서를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
