The operation method of the locking device for a bicycle comprises the steps of: determining whether an unlocking request is valid by interworking with the unlocking request from a smart device; unlocking a locking state so as to permit uncoupling in a coupling unit when the unlocking request is valid; and setting to the locking state so as not to permit the uncoupling in the coupling unit when the uncoupling is not performed in the coupling unit within a set time.
