The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for starting an engine of a mild hybrid electric vehicle. The apparatus for starting an engine of a mild hybrid electric vehicle according to an embodiment of the present invention can include: an ignition switch including a plurality of contact points; a mild starter/amp (generator) that includes a stator and a rotor disposed inside the stator to generate power by starting an engine or through an output of the engine; an MHSG wheel integrally rotated with the rotor and having at least three teeth on the circumference; an MHSG location sensor that detects the locations of the teeth; and a controller that determines a top dead point of a cylinder set based on a signal of the MHSG location sensor and starts the engine by driving the MHSG. The present invention provides an apparatus and a method for starting an engine of a vehicle by which the engine can be started by using an MHSG wheel having teeth on the circumference.

    본 발명은 마일드 하이브리드 차량의 엔진 시동 장치 및 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 마일드 하이브리드 차량의 엔진 시동 장치는, 복수개의 접점을 포함하는 이그니션 스위치; 고정자 및 고정자의 내측에 배치되는 회전자를 포함하고, 엔진을 시동하거나 엔진의 출력에 의해 발전하는 MHSG(mild starter & generator); 상기 회전자와 일체로 회전하며, 원주 상에 적어도 3개의 투쓰들이 형성된 MHSG 휠; 상기 투쓰들의 위치를 검출하는 MHSG 위치 센서; 및 상기 MHSG 위치 센서의 신호를 기초로 설정된 실린더의 상사점을 판단하고, 상기 MHSG를 구동하여 상기 엔진을 시동하는 제어기;를 포함할 수 있다.
