The present invention relates to a method for preventing an accident at a crosswalk of a school zone and a system thereof, and is directed to solve problems that accidents occur when children run into a street before a pedestrian traffic light is changed into a green signal at the crosswalk of the school zone or run into the crosswalk and head into a vehicle in violation of a signal or an overspeeding vehicle while the children just look ahead without looking around after the pedestrian traffic light is changed. According to the present invention, a system for preventing an accident at a crosswalk of a school zone is configured to provide a surveillance camera sensing a state in which a pedestrian goes into a street, and delay or control a change of a pedestrian traffic light (120) into a green signal when a vehicle passing through first and second loop coils (60, 61) installed within a braking distance on a stop line of the crosswalk exceeds a speed limit. According to the present invention, even when a vehicle traffic light is changed into a red signal, the pedestrian traffic light can be controlled to be changed into a green signal when the crosswalk is in a safety state by sensing a speed of a vehicle going into the crosswalk, thereby considerably reducing a traffic accident occurring at the crosswalk.

    본 발명은 스쿨존 횡단보도 사고 예방 방법 및 그 시스템에 관한 것으로, 스쿨존의 횡단보도에서 보행자 신호등이 녹색 신호로 바뀌기 전에 어린이들이 차도로 들어가거나 신호가 바뀐 후 주위를 살피지 않고 앞만 보고 횡단보도로 뛰어들어가다가 신호 위반 차량이나 과속 차량에 부딪혀서 사고가 발생하는 문제점을 해결하기 위한 것이다.본 발명의 스쿨존 횡단보도 사고 예방 시스템은 차도에 보행자가 진입하는 것을 감지하는 감시카메라를 제공하고, 횡단보도의 정지선에서 제동거리 내에 설치된 제1 및 제2루프코일(60,61)을 지나는 차량이 제한속도를 초과할 때, 보행자 신호등(120)이 녹색 신호로 바뀌는 것을 지연시키거나 제어하도록 구성하였다.본 발명에 따르면, 차량 신호등이 적색 신호로 바뀌더라도 횡단보도로 진행하는 차량의 속도를 감지하여 안전할 경우 보행자 신호등이 녹색 신호로 바뀌도록 제어함으로써, 횡단보도에서 교통사고 발생을 크게 줄일 수 있는 매우 뛰어난 효과가 있다.
