The present invention relates to a sliding step device for an electric vehicle. The present invention comprises a housing installed in a lower part of a body of an electric vehicle and having a space part formed inside; a step footrest placed in the housing to fill a gap between a side wall of a platform and the body of the vehicle by moving forward and backward from a side of the body to the platform; a motor integrated with a side of the step footrest and including a spur gear in a rotary shaft; a rack gear combined with the spur gear and installed in the space part of the housing in a platform direction; and a step control unit controlling the operating motor. According to the present invention, the sliding step device is installed in the electric vehicle to fill the gap with a side of the platform when being stopped at the platform, and therefore, the old and weak are able to safely take on and off the electric vehicle. Moreover, even when the height of the platform is different, a gap between the electric vehicle and an end part of the platform is able to be filled. Especially, the present invention is capable of protecting the operating motor from leakage by integrating the step footrest with the operating motor, and obtaining the operational stability of an aluminum rail structure step while supporting the step footrest by applying both rollers. Moreover, as the operation of the step footrest is controlled when the weight of a passenger is sensed, the passenger is able to safely take on the electric vehicle.
