To improve practicability of a brake system performing ABS operation.SOLUTION: A brake system comprises: a brake device which applies brake force to wheels; and a controller which causes the brake device to perform ABS operation including a reduction mode to reduce the brake force when a slip rate of the wheels exceeds a threshold and an increase mode to increase and restore the brake force after the reduction mode. The brake system determines: a target brake force PW* which is brake force PW to be restored at a time tAE when the ABS operation is completed on the basis of the brake force at a time tAS when the ABS operation is started; and an operation cycle TCYC which is a time when the ABS operation is performed on the basis of a state of a road surface on which a vehicle travels. Thus, the brake system enables appropriate ABS operation to be achieved through a relatively simple process without executing a complicated process in which an increase gradient of the brake force is determined on the basis of factors such as a vehicle weight in the increase mode.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
