To suppress reduction of load to be received by an energy absorbing member at the initial stage of collision by, in a shock absorbing structure including the energy absorbing member that includes a pair of vertical walls extending in the input direction of the collision load, generating a moment in a direction in which the pair of vertical walls becomes close to each other upon receiving the collision load in such a way that the pair of vertical walls is deformed so as to abut with each other without forming any bending shape of the pair of vertical walls that results in deformation.SOLUTION: A shock absorbing structure for vehicular body includes an energy absorbing member 20 that has a cross-sectional shape in the input direction of a collision load formed in a hat shape. Ceiling portions 20A in the hat shape are placed so as to face with each other in the input direction. Each of flanges 20C and each of coupled portions 20D, 20E of the ceiling portions 20A relative to a pair of vertical walls 20B are formed in a bending shape. Regarding the dimension in the direction in which each flange 20C extends in the bending shape, a first dimension L1 of the bending shape at a side of the flange 20C is greater than or equal to a predetermined value and is greater than or equal to a second dimension L2 of the bending shape at a side of the ceiling portion 20A.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】衝突荷重の入力方向に延びる一対の縦壁を備えたエネルギ吸収部材を含む衝撃吸収構造において、衝突荷重を受けて一対の縦壁に互いに接近する方向のモーメントを発生させることにより、一対の縦壁に変形のきっかけとなる曲げ形状を形成することなく一対の縦壁同士を衝突荷重により互いに当接するように変形させて、衝突初期にエネルギ吸収部材が受ける荷重が低下するのを抑制する。【解決手段】衝突荷重の入力方向の断面形状がハット形状とされたエネルギ吸収部材20を備え、ハット形状における天板部20Aは入力方向に対向配置され、一対の縦壁部20Bに対する各鍔部20C及び天板部20Aの各結合部20D、20Eは、曲げ形状により形成されており、曲げ形状における各鍔部20Cが延びる方向の寸法は、各鍔部20C側の曲げ形状の第1寸法L1が、所定値以上であり、且つ天板部20A側の曲げ形状の第2寸法L2に対し同等以上とされている。【選択図】図2
