To easily and accurately install a position detection device that detects the position of a car when a detected object faces a U-shaped groove of a detection sensor, while being adaptable to a variety of U-shaped groove widths.SOLUTION: An installation adjustment tool is used in the installation work of a position detection device that detects the position of a car when a detected object faces a U-shaped groove of a detection sensor. The installation adjustment tool includes an elastic body that is inserted into the U-shaped groove so that a reference surface contacts the inner bottom surface of the U-shaped groove and each of a pair of side surfaces having a common side with the reference surface contacts the inner side surface of the U-shaped groove, and a clamping groove that is formed on the surface opposite the reference surface of the elastic body and is used to clamp the detected object when the elastic body is inserted into the U-shaped groove. The elastic body is configured so that the elastic modulus of a first area sandwiched between the bottom surface part of the clamping groove and the reference surface of the elastic body is greater than the elastic modulus of second areas adjacent to both sides of the first area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
