To miniaturize an antenna necessary for detecting a speed of a railway vehicle using millimeter waves and avoid speed detection accuracy deterioration due to vehicle vibration and speed detection accuracy deterioration due to multiple reflections occurring at the bottom of the vehicle.SOLUTION: A railway vehicle speed detection device comprises: a transmission unit that transmits a chirp signal whose frequency changes over time; a reception unit that receives the chirp signal reflected from an object as a reception signal; and a digital processing unit that calculates a distance to the object and a Doppler speed of the object by Fourier transformation of the reception signal received by the reception unit. The transmission unit and the reception unit are installed at the bottom of a railway vehicle and located directly above a rail. The digital processing unit determines the fastest Doppler speed with the highest intensity of the reception signal among the reception signals from the object located at the equal distance within the calculated distance to the object and the Doppler speed of the object as the Doppler speed with the rail as the object, and calculates the vehicle speed of the railway vehicle from the Doppler speed of the rail.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】ミリ波を用いた鉄道車両速度検出に必要なアンテナの小型化を図り、車両振動による速度検出精度劣化および車両底部で生じる複数反射による速度検出精度劣化を回避する。【解決手段】鉄道車両速度検出装置として、時間とともに周波数が変化するチャープ信号を送信する送信部と、物標から反射したチャープ信号を受信信号として受信する受信部と、受信部が受信する受信信号をフーリエ変換して物標までの距離と物標のドップラ速度とを算出するデジタル処理部とを備え、送信部および受信部は、鉄道車両の底部に設置されかつレールの直上に位置し、デジタル処理部は、更に、算出した物標までの距離の内で等距離に位置する物標からの受信信号および当該物標のドップラ速度の中で、受信信号の強度がピークでかつ最速のドップラ速度を、レールを物標とするドップラ速度として判定し、当該レールのドップラ速度から鉄道車両の車両速度を算出する。【選択図】図1
