To provide a preview road surface detection device capable of inhibiting detection waves transmitted from a plurality of transmitters from being received while being confused.SOLUTION: A preview road surface detection device comprises: a distance sensor which comprises a plurality of transmitters and at least one receiver mounted on a vehicle body member so as to be arranged in a direction intersecting a vehicle travel direction, and which detects a value related to a distance between the vehicle body member and a measurement point on a road surface ahead of a vehicle and corresponding to at least part of a road surface contact part of a wheel; and a distance calculation section which calculates a road surface distance, as the distance from the vehicle body member to the measurement point, on the basis of the detection value detected by the distance sensor.
