To provide a forward recognition device for a vehicle that prevents AI from executing control based on erroneous inference without learning an object whose shape is difficult to identify and whose learning data is difficult to accumulate.SOLUTION: A forward recognition unit 23 includes an image analysis/AI inference unit 23a, a road information acquisition unit 23b, and a discomfort area verification unit 23c. The image analysis/AI inference unit 23a analyzes an image of a traveling environment in front of an own vehicle M using artificial intelligence, divides an image area according to a class to which it belongs, and divides an image area on a road that does not belong to any class as a discomfort area. The road information acquisition unit 23b acquires high-precision map information in front of the own vehicle M. The discomfort area verification unit 23c verifies whether or not the own vehicle M can pass through the divided discomfort area, and notifies the driver when the discomfort area verification unit 23c determines that it is impossible to pass.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
