To provide a rail breakage detection apparatus and a rail breakage detection method that accurately detect breakage of a rail with a simple configuration.SOLUTION: A rail breakage detection apparatus 10 comprises a plurality of short circuit units 20 that is provided to short-circuit between a pair of rails 70, 72 for each predetermined interval L along the extending direction of the rails 70, 72, a potential difference measuring unit 30 that measures a potential difference between the pair of rails 70, 72 in each of the short circuit units 20 between adjacent short circuit units 20, and a breakage detection unit 40 that detects breakage of the pair of rails 70, 72 on the basis of measurement results by the potential difference measuring unit 30. By the above configuration, it is possible to increase the potential difference between the pair of rails 70, 72 by setting the predetermined interval L to be large, and further setting the distance from the short circuit unit 20 to the potential difference measuring unit 30 located in the direction where return current flows to be large, and thus, it is possible to increase S/N ratio of the potential difference and accurately detect breakage of the rails 70, 72 despite the simple configuration as mentioned above.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】単純な構成でレールの破断検知を精度よく行う。【解決手段】レール破断検知装置10は、レール70、72の延在方向に沿った所定間隔L毎に、一対のレール70、72間を短絡するように設けられた複数の短絡部20と、複数の短絡部20の隣接する短絡部20間の各々における、一対のレール70、72間の電位差を測定する電位差測定部30と、電位差測定部30による測定結果に基づいて、一対のレール70、72の破断を検知する破断検知部40とを含む。これにより、所定間隔Lを大きく設定し、更に短絡部20から、帰線電流が流れる方向に位置する電位差測定部30の測定点までの距離を大きく設定することで、一対のレール70、72間の電位差を大きくすることができるため、上記のような単純な構成にも関わらず、電位差のS/N比を向上させることができ、レール70、72の破断を精度よく検知することができる。【選択図】図1
