To curb an increase in a temperature of hydraulic oil due to a reduction in cooling performance of a heat exchanger while appropriately maintaining follow-up travel.SOLUTION: During execution of follow-up travel in which a vehicle automatically travels with a predetermined inter-vehicle distance from a preceding vehicle, oil temperature curbing control is executed to change a control state of a lockup clutch so as to curb an increase in a temperature of hydraulic oil which is distributed inside a fluid type transmission device and used for switching the control state of the lockup clutch. In this way, a heat generation amount of the fluid type transmission device including the lockup clutch can be reduced without changing an actual inter-vehicle distance with respect to a predetermined inter-vehicle distance in the follow-up travel. Thus, a vehicle control device can curb the increase in the temperature of the hydraulic oil due to a reduction in cooling performance of a heat exchanger while appropriately maintaining the follow-up travel.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8

    【課題】追従走行を適切に維持しつつ熱交換器の冷却性能の低下に起因する作動油の温度上昇を抑制する。【解決手段】先行車両に対して所定の車間距離を隔てて自動で走行する追従走行の実行中には、流体式伝動装置内を流通すると共にロックアップクラッチの制御状態の切替えに用いられる作動油の温度上昇を抑制するようにロックアップクラッチの制御状態を変更する油温抑制制御が実行されるので、追従走行における所定の車間距離に対して実際の車間距離を変更することなく、ロックアップクラッチを含む流体式伝動装置からの発熱量を下げることができる。よって、追従走行を適切に維持しつつ熱交換器の冷却性能の低下に起因する作動油の温度上昇を抑制することができる。【選択図】図8
