To provide a fall detection device enabling a station clerk or the like to immediately recognize which car of a train a fall event occurs when the occurrence of the fall event is detected while suppressing introduction cost and enabling the station clerk or the like to take appropriate action.SOLUTION: A fall detection device 4 includes a scanning data acquisition unit 14, a fall detection unit 15, a wheel detection area setting unit 16, a wheel detection unit 17, a wheel detection frequency detection unit 18, and a car number specification unit 19. The wheel detection area setting unit 16 sets such that a length L in a car traveling direction is made shorter than a length X between a front wheel position and a rear wheel position of the same car, and is made longer than a length Y between a center position of a rear wheel group of a preceding car of adjacent cars and a center position of a front wheel group of a succeeding car, in a wheel detection area set in a stop position of the rear wheel of the car of a train.     【課題】導入コストを抑制しつつ、転落事象の発生を検知した際に、列車の何両目で転落事象が発生したのかを即座に駅係員等に認識させて、適切な対応を採らせることが可能な転落検知装置を提供する。【解決手段】転落検知装置4は、走査データ取得部14、転落検知部15、車輪検知エリア設定部16、車輪検知部17、車輪検知回数検出部18、車両番号特定部19を備える。車輪検知エリア設定部16は、列車の車両の後方車輪の停止位置に設定される車輪検知エリアについて、車両進行方向の長さLを、同一車両の前方車輪位置と後方車輪位置との間の長さXよりも短く、隣接する車両間の前方車両の後方車輪群の中央位置と後方車両の前方車輪群の中央位置との間の長さYよりも長くなるように設定する。車両番号特定部19は、車輪検知回数検出部18における車輪の検知回数をn回とすると、車輪検知エリアに停止した車両が列車のn両目であると判定する。【選択図】図2
