To provide a novel sound absorption material which can exhibit an excellent sound absorption characteristic even if the material is thin.SOLUTION: A sound absorption material includes: a perforated layer composed of an impermeable material; and a porous layer composed of a permeable material. The perforated layer includes a base having a plurality of pores. The perforated layer includes a composite material including rubber, a nonwoven fabric or foam. Rubber includes at least one selected from a group consisting of polyurethane rubber (PU), silicone rubber, natural rubber (NR), butyl rubber, styrene butadiene rubber (SBR), chloroprene rubber (CR), acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR), ethylene propylene diene rubber (EPDM) and fluororubber (FKM). When a porous layer side is disposed toward an object member, a Helmholtz resonance box structure which resonates with sound incident from the pores is formed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
