To provide a technique capable of suppressing or preventing such a defect that power supply from a power transmission device to a power reception device does not start when the power reception device changes from a non-opposite state to an opposite state with respect to the power transmission device, in the power transmission device.SOLUTION: A power transmission device 100 for supplying power in a non-contact manner to a movable power reception device 200 includes: a power transmission resonant circuit 110 having a power transmitting coil 112 and a power transmission resonant capacitor; a power transmission circuit 130 for supplying AC power to the power transmission resonant circuit; a power transmission request signal reception section 172 for receiving a power transmission request signal originating from the power reception device; and a switching section 174 for switching the value of a current flowing through the power transmitting coil, the switching section switching the value of current flowing through the power transmitting coil to the value of a current that can be supplied to the power reception device, by changing the input impedance of the power transmission resonant circuit upon reception of the power transmission request signal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
