To provide an electric propulsion machine having a simple structure, which does not need large power for making an atmosphere plasmatic while maintaining a supersonic speed of the captured atmosphere.SOLUTION: Provided is an electric propulsion machine 1 that acquires thrust by injecting, downstream, positive ions of plasma generated from an atmosphere captured upstream. The electric propulsion machine 1 comprises: an intake unit 10 that captures the atmosphere; and a plasma generation acceleration unit 20 that ionizes the captured atmosphere to generate plasma and accelerates positive ions in the plasma downstream. The plasma generation acceleration unit 20 is provided with a positive electrode 40 disposed on the intake unit 10 side and a negative electrode 50 making a pair with the positive electrode 40. A region 30 in which the atmosphere is ram-compressed by kinetic energy of the atmosphere is formed in the plasma generation acceleration unit 20.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】取り込んだ大気の超音速を維持しつつ、大気のプラズマ化のために大きな電力を必要とすることなく、シンプルな構造を持つ電気推進機を提供する。【解決手段】上流から取り込んだ大気から生成したプラズマの陽イオンを下流に噴射することによって推力を得る電気推進機1を提供する。電気推進機1は、大気を取り込むインテーク部10と、取り込んだ大気を電離してプラズマを生成し、プラズマ中の陽イオンを下流に向けて加速するプラズマ生成加速部20と、を備える。前記プラズマ生成加速部20は、インテーク部10側に配置された陽極40と、陽極40と対を成す陰極50と、を備える。大気の運動エネルギーにより大気がラム圧縮された領域30がプラズマ生成加速部20に形成される。【選択図】図2
