To provide a vehicle detector capable of automatically adjusting optical axes of a projector and a light receiver into optimal directions.SOLUTION: A vehicle detector comprises: a projector unit including a projector which projects inspection light; a light receiver unit including a light receiver which is opposed to the projector while interposing a lane therebetween and receives the inspection light; a measurement section for measuring a light-receiving state of the inspection light by the light receiver; a first drive section for tilting a first unit, which is one of the projector unit and the light receiver unit, in a lane width direction; and a determination section for determining a tilt angle closer to a center of a range of the tilt angle, in which a light-receiving amount of the inspection light of the light receiver, than a tilt angle in an end of the range as a tilt angle in a normal driving mode of the first unit based on the light-receiving state of the light receiver measured by the measurement section while the first drive section changes the tilt angle of the first unit from a first angle to a second angle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4

    【課題】投光器および受光器の光軸が最適な向きとなるように自動的に調整することができる車両検知器を提供する。【解決手段】車両検知器は、検査光を投光する投光器を有する投光器ユニットと、前記投光器と車線を挟んで対向し、前記検査光を受光する受光器を有する受光器ユニットと、前記受光器による前記検査光の受光状態を計測する計測部と、前記投光器ユニットおよび前記受光器ユニットの一方である第1ユニットを車線幅方向に傾斜させる第1駆動部と、前記第1駆動部が前記第1ユニットの傾斜角度を第1角度から第2角度まで変更する間に前記計測部が計測した前記受光器の受光状態から、前記受光器の前記検査光の受光量が所定値以上となる傾斜角度の範囲のうち、当該範囲の端部となる傾斜角度よりも当該範囲の中央に近い傾斜角度を、前記第1ユニットの通常運転モード時の傾斜角度として決定する決定部と、を備える。【選択図】図4
