To provide a charger capable of sufficiently utilizing rated power of a power source supply unit.SOLUTION: A charger 1001 comprises: a plurality of DC power supply units that are connectable to storage batteries 4 mounted on a plurality of vehicles and output a charging current Ic not exceeding a rated current Icn to the storage batteries 4; a plurality of changeover switches for changing over connection states between the plurality of DC power supply units and the storage batteries 4; and a control section 2 that determines DC current and the number UN of DC power supply units that maximize the total value of the charging current Ic output from the DC power supply units within a range of maximum charging currents Icmax respectively input from the vehicles, creates a DC current instruction for instructing the DC power supply units to output DC current and a changeover operation instruction for instructing a changeover operation of the changeover switch so that the number UN of DC power supply units, and the storage batteries 4 are connected, and outputs the instructions.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
