To provide a door latch device that can prevent a door from being opened unexpectedly upon receipt of a strong impact.SOLUTION: A door latch device 10 includes: a fork 26; a claw 27; a movable member 33 that causes, upon movement thereof in a first direction A, the claw 27 in an engaged position to rotate to an unengaged position; an electric motor 31 that moves the movable member 33 in the first direction A and a second direction B; and a control unit 70 that controls the electric motor 31. The control unit 70 executes emergency energizing processing to energize the electric motor 31 so as to restrict the movement of the movable member 33 in the first direction A when a signal indicating a shock of a set value or higher is input from a shock detection unit 75 or a predictive shock detection unit 76.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
