To provide an electric motor unit that can control the flow of cooling air flowing above the outer surface of an electric motor, a method for controlling the flow of cooling air, and a self-propelled electric vehicle with the electric motor.SOLUTION: A self-propelled electric vehicle 100 is configured such that an electric motor unit 120 is attached to a frame 101 supporting front wheels 103 and rear wheels 108. The electric motor unit 120 is provided with an electric motor 121, a liquid feeding pump 140, a radiator 141, and a fan 143. A cooling flow passage 126 and a coolant chamber 127 through which coolant is circulated are formed in a housing 124 of the electric motor 121 and the liquid feeding pump 140 and a coolant external pipe 144 are disposed in an exposed state in the housing. A first flow restriction portion 145a through which cooling air W output from the fan 143 is guided to the liquid feeding pump 140 and a second flow restriction portion 145b by which the flow to an open/close cap 127a is inhibited are formed in the coolant external pipe 144.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
