To provide a power-factor improvement method capable of improving efficiency of a power-factor improvement on a ship even in situations where maintenance is difficult, and capable of realizing energy conservation.SOLUTION: A controller 110 extracts a capacitor 131 corresponding to a powered heavy load 6 from database 111, detects each accumulated operating time of the extracted capacitor 131, compares the accumulated operating time with each allowable operating time stored in the database 111, and inputs the capacitor 131 whose accumulated operating time does not exceed the allowable operating time.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
