To provide an imaging device that can reduce unnecessary event recording when a vehicle is traveling.SOLUTION: An image capturing unit 10 captures images of the interior or exterior of a vehicle to generate image data 31. A vibration detection unit 20 detects vibrations of the vehicle. A threshold setting unit 41 sets a threshold value to determine whether or not an event has occurred for which the image data 31 should be saved, based on a detected value of the vibration of the vehicle. An event detection unit 43 compares the detected value with the threshold value to detect the occurrence of the event. A recording control unit 44 records the image data 31 for a predetermined period of time before and after the occurrence of the event onto a recording medium 50 for storage. A threshold value updating unit 45 updates the threshold value to be used in the next unit interval based on the maximum detected value for each unit interval.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
