To suppress deviation of sliding torque from a design value due to a manufacturing error and variations in sliding torque caused by aging.SOLUTION: A pivot comprises a spring 76 for applying a spring load W to a clearance between a recessed spherical face 60 and a protrusive spherical face 42 to apply a pressing force between abutment faces of the two spherical faces. Both the spherical faces are arranged such that they can turn relative to each other in a direction about a virtual linear line 16 that passes through a center 14 of a virtual spherical body defining a virtual spherical face to which both the spherical faces belong and that extends in a direction of the spring load and such that they can incline relative to each other in a direction around a center of the virtual spherical body. With a point at which the virtual linear line intersects with the virtual spherical face being defined as a pole position 18-1, the abutment faces 62 of the spherical faces are arranged in a specific latitude range of the virtual spherical face. The spherical face of the two spherical faces that is located on a side at which the spherical face is inclined with the virtual linear line during inclination has a protruding face 60 which protrudes in a radial direction and which partitions the specific latitude range from the outside of the specific latitude range.
