To effectively suppress generation of Ni2O3H in a nickel-hydrogen storage battery even in a hybrid vehicle under severe use conditions.SOLUTION: In a control method for a nickel-metal hydride storage battery, in the case of a battery where a memory effect has occurred, for example, due to use of air conditioner at a low SOC and rapid charging as in a hybrid vehicle that has a long standby time in an idling state, generation of oxygen is suppressed by charging while performing a plurality of times, intermittent discharge ID, which is intermittent discharge during charging, and generation of Ni2O3H is suppressed by suppressing local liquid drying phenomenon of a positive electrode, thereby, deterioration of the battery is suppressed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
【課題】過酷な使用条件のハイブリッド自動車であっても、ニッケル水素蓄電池のNi2O3Hの発生を有効に抑制すること。【解決手段】ニッケル水素蓄電池の制御方法であって、例えば、アイドリング状態で待機時間が長いハイブリッド自動車のように、低いSOCでエアコンディショナを使用し、かつ急激に充電することでメモリ効果を生じた電池の場合に、設定された低SOC状態における低SOC充電LCにおいて、充電途中で間欠的な放電である間欠放電IDを複数回行いながら充電することで、酸素の発生を抑制し、正極の局所的な液枯れ現象を抑制することで、副反応によりNi2O3Hが生成されることを抑制し、電池の劣化を抑制する。【選択図】図1
