To enable an occupant to more properly execute driving control in which a task assigned to the occupant is light.SOLUTION: A vehicle control device according to an embodiment comprises: a recognizing part that recognizes a situation around a vehicle; a driving control part that controls either or both of steering and accelerating/decelerating of the vehicle on the basis of the recognized situation; and a first receiving part that receives operation of switching driving modes of the vehicle by an occupant in the vehicle. The driving control part makes the vehicle travel in any of a plurality of driving modes including a first driving mode and a second driving mode which is lighter in task assigned to the occupant in the vehicle than the first driving mode. The driving control part, when the vehicle is in a travelling environment in which the first driving mode is being executed and the second driving mode can be executed, controls acceleration and deceleration so that a speed of the vehicle reaches a target speed, and when the first receiving part receives the operation of switching the driving mode to the second driving mode after the speed of the vehicle reaches the target speed, switches the driving mode from the first driving mode to the second driving mode.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】乗員に課されるタスクが軽度な運転制御をより適切に実行すること。【解決手段】実施形態の車両制御装置は、車両の周辺状況を認識する認識部と、認識された周辺状況に基づいて前記車両の操舵または加減速のうち一方または双方を制御する運転制御部と、前記車両の乗員による前記車両の運転モードの切り替え操作を受け付ける第1受付部とを備え、前記運転制御部は、第1運転モードと、前記第1運転モードよりも前記車両の乗員に課されるタスクが軽度な第2運転モードとを含む複数の運転モードの何れかで前記車両を走行させ、第1運転モードの実行中であり、且つ第2運転モードが実行可能な状態である場合に、車両の速度が目標速度となるように加減速制御を行い、速度が目標速度となった状態で第1受付部により第2運転モードへの切り替え操作が受け付けられた場合に、前記運転モードを前記第1運転モードから前記第2運転モードに切り替える。【選択図】図1
