To provide a buffer that can restrain occurrence of unusual noise while restraining a decrease in a damping force.SOLUTION: A buffer comprises: a first passage 81 through which a working fluid is made to flow out to a reservoir chamber 18 from a second chamber 62 by movement of a piston; a first damping force generation mechanism 95 provided in the first passage 81, and generating a damping force; an isolated chamber 143 provided in the second chamber 62 that is one of a first chamber and the second chamber 62, and capable of communicating with the second chamber 62 via communication passages 155a and 165a; and an expansion/contraction member 180 provided in the isolated chamber 143, capable of being expanded/contracted by a pressure in the second chamber 62, and blocking communication between the communication passages 155a and 165a and the isolated chamber 143 when the pressure in the second chamber 62 is lower than a first predetermined pressure value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
