To improve fuel economy throughout a route to and from a destination in a manner that does not drive engine either on a route to or from the destination.SOLUTION: A control method is for a hybrid vehicle comprising a motor to be a drive source, a battery supplying electric power to the motor and an engine capable of supplying the electric power to the battery through driving a generator. In the control method, when a planned travel route includes a round trip of a predetermined section and energy required to run through either one of routes to or from a destination with the motor without driving the engine is lower than the maximum energy to be supplied to the battery, the engine is not driven while the hybrid vehicle is running on either one of the routes to or from the destination and the engine is driven on the other route to or from the destination so that the battery can be supplied with the energy exceeding that required to run through either one of the routes to or from the destination.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】往復路のうちの一方の経路においてエンジンを駆動させないことにより、往復路全体における燃費の向上を図る。【解決手段】ハイブリッド車両の制御方法は、駆動源となるモータと、モータに電力を供給するバッテリと、発電機を駆動させてバッテリに電力を供給可能なエンジンとを備えるハイブリッド車両の制御方法である。制御方法においては、予定される走行経路に所定の区間の往復路が含まれる場合において、往復路の一方を、エンジンを駆動させずにモータにより走行する場合に必要なエネルギが、バッテリの供給可能な最大エネルギを下回る場合には、往復路の一方の走行中においては、エンジンの駆動を駆動させず、往復路の他方の走行中においては、エンジンを駆動させて往復路の一方の走行に必要なエネルギを上回るエネルギをバッテリに蓄える。【選択図】図2
