To provide a rotary electric machine capable of improving energy efficiency by preventing a leakage flux of a permanent magnet from increasing.SOLUTION: A rotor (10) comprises a rotor core (11) and a permanent magnet (12) embedded in a magnet hole (121) formed at the rotor core. The permanent magnet (12) is arranged to be inclined in such a manner that an end portion (12a) on a normal-rotation direction side is closer to a stator (14) than an end portion (12b) on a reverse-rotation direction side. The rotor core (11) comprises each of a first flux barrier (211) formed in communication with the magnet hole (121), which is adjacent to the end portion on the normal-rotation direction side of the permanent magnet (12), and a second flux barrier (212) formed in communication with the magnet hole (121), which is adjacent to the end portion on the reverse-rotation direction side of the permanent magnet (12). The second flux barrier (212) radially extends toward the stator (14) from the end portion (12b) on the reverse-rotation direction side of the permanent magnet (12).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
