To quickly and accurately catch signs of abnormalities leading to a driver being inoperable.SOLUTION: A driver state estimation device includes: a head movement detection unit 21 that detects a movement of the head of a driver from an output of a camera 10 that captures a driver; and a detection unit 30 that detects a sign of driver's abnormality from the movement of the head detected by the head movement detection unit 21. The detection unit 30 calculates a periodic feature amount with respect to time series data representing the movement of the head of the driver when the lateral acceleration applied to the head of the driver is equal to or less than a predetermined value, calculates a time-series variation pattern for the acquired periodic feature amount, compares the acquired time-series variation pattern with a predetermined threshold value, and determines whether or not there is any sign of the driver's abnormality.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9

    【課題】ドライバの運転不能につながる異常予兆を、いち早く、精度良く、とらえる。【解決手段】ドライバ状態推定装置は、ドライバを撮影するカメラ10の出力からドライバの頭部の挙動を検知する頭部挙動検出部21と、頭部挙動検出部21によって検出された頭部の挙動からドライバの異常予兆を検知する検知部30とを備える。検知部30は、ドライバの頭部に作用する横加速度が所定値以下の場合において、ドライバの頭部の挙動を表す時系列データに対して周期性特徴量を演算し、得た周期性特徴量に対して時系列変動パターンを演算し、得た時系列変動パターンを所定の閾値と比較し、ドライバの異常予兆の有無を判定する。【選択図】図9
