To provide a worm speed reducer which achieves low noise.SOLUTION: A worm speed reducer 150 includes: a bearing 161 which holds a worm shaft 164 at the inner side of a housing 153; a coil spring 170 which applies a biasing force toward a worm wheel 163; and a buffer member 180 which is disposed so as to cover a part of an outer peripheral surface of the bearing 161 in a gap between the bearing 161 and the housing 153. The buffer member 180 includes: an insertion part 182 which forms a space into which the coil spring 170 is inserted; and a first engagement part 181 which engages with the housing 153 so that radial deflection of the insertion part 182 is restricted. The housing 153 includes a second engagement part 157 which engages with the first engagement part 151.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
