To achieve downsizing of a driving wheel unit in a vertical direction.SOLUTION: A driving wheel unit 3 is attached to an automatic transportation dolly 1 including a dolly body 11 and casters 12 supporting the dolly body 11 from below to drive the automatic transportation dolly 1. The driving wheel unit 3 includes: a driving wheel 33; a driving mechanism 34 which rotationally drives the driving wheel 33 around a driving axis J1 oriented in a horizontal direction; and a steering mechanism 36 which changes an orientation of the driving wheel 33 around a steering axis J2 oriented in a vertical direction. At least a part of the steering mechanism 36 is located between an upper end and a lower end of the driving wheel 33 in the vertical direction. In a state that the driving wheel unit 3 is attached to the dolly body 11, an entire part of the steering mechanism 36 is located below an upper surface of the dolly body 11.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
