To urge deformation of a restraining member between coupling portions in an appropriate direction while ensuring smooth collapse of a wood material.SOLUTION: As for a pair of restraining members 10, 12, in a shock absorbing member 4 for a vehicle coupled by a pair of coupling portions 21, 22 bridged between both the restraining members 10, 12 while arranged opposite each other so as to sandwich an input end of a wood material 6 in a plan view on an input end side of the wood material 6, the pair of coupling portions 21, 22 are arranged apart from each other in a direction orthogonal to a bridging direction in a plan view. Thereby, a non-coupling area 50 not coupled by the coupling portions 21, 22 is formed in each of the restraining members 10, 12 located between the pair of coupling portions 21, 22. The non-coupling area 50 is provided with fragile portions (41, 43) made more fragile than the other portions of the restraining members 10, 12 so as to urge plastic deformation of the restraining members 10, 12 in a direction of input of a load.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3

    【課題】木材のスムーズな圧壊を確保しつつ、連結部間の拘束部材の適切な向きへの変形を促すことにある。【解決手段】一対の拘束部材10,12は、木材6の入力端部側における平面視において、木材6の入力端部を挟み付けるように対向して配置された状態で、両拘束部材10,12の間に橋渡された一対の連結部21,22で連結されている車両の衝撃吸収部材4において、一対の連結部21,22が、平面視において橋渡し方向と直交する方向に離間して配置されることで、一対の連結部21,22の間に位置する各拘束部材10,12に、連結部21,22にて連結されていない非連結領域50が形成されており、非連結領域50には、荷重入力方向への拘束部材10,12の塑性変形を助長するように拘束部材10,12のその他の部分よりも脆弱化された脆弱部(41,43)が設けられている。【選択図】図3
