To evaluate, in a traction performance evaluating method for a pneumatic tire, the traction performance of the pneumatic tire by a simple scheme without a complex analysis or test.SOLUTION: A traction performance evaluating method for a pneumatic tire 2 includes: obtaining respective dimensions of plural grooves 4 of the pneumatic tire 2; obtaining a ground contact width W1 or tread width W2 of the pneumatic tire 2 on a flat road surface; calculating the respective volumes of the plural grooves 4 in the ground contact range on the basis of the respective dimensions of the plural grooves 4 and the ground contact width W1 or the tread width W2; and evaluating the respective volumes of the plural grooves 4 as the traction performance of the pneumatic tire 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
