To realize smooth traveling of a moving handrail.SOLUTION: A passenger conveyor includes an endless-shaped moving handrail 1 circulating and moving in synchronization with a footboard circulating and moving, which alternately has a straight line route that is a route having a straight shape in a side view and a curved route that is a route having a curved shape in a side view as a circulating and moving track and has an inversion route that is a route inverting the traveling direction while an end part is configured by a curved route, a driving part 5 for giving a driving force to the moving handrail 1, and a structure 6 including tension loading means 10 that absorbs the looseness generated in the moving handrail 1 and applies the tension to the moving handrail 1. An initial tension value of the moving handrail 1 is determined based on a detection result of the tension acting on a portion which is positioned on the driving part 5 side of a first inversion route (an inversion part 7a) positioned farthest on the opposite side from the driving part 5 with respect to the structure 6 on the track when the tension is applied to the moving handrail 1 by the tension loading means 10.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】 移動手摺の円滑な走行を実現する。【解決手段】 乗客コンベアは、循環移動する踏板と同期して循環移動する移動手摺であって、循環移動の軌道として側面視において直線状の経路である直線経路と曲線状の経路である曲線経路とを交互に有し、かつ進行方向を反転する経路であって端部が曲線経路で構成される経路である反転経路を有する無端形状の移動手摺1と、移動手摺1に駆動力を与える駆動部5と、移動手摺1に生じる弛みを吸収する構造体であって移動手摺1に張力を負荷する張力負荷手段10を含む構造体6と、を備え、張力負荷手段10が移動手摺1に張力を負荷した際の、軌道上の、構造体6に対して駆動部5と反対側に最も遠い位置にある第1の反転経路(反転部7a)より駆動部5側に位置する部位に作用する張力の検出結果に基づいて、移動手摺1の初期張力の値が決定される。【選択図】 図1
