To provide an automobile collision energy absorption component that has improved collision energy absorption effect in the event of axial collapse resulting from input of collision load from the front or rear of a vehicle body and that is free from a significant rise of a manufacturing cost by reducing additional manufacturing processes, and to provide a manufacturing method for the automobile collision energy absorption component.SOLUTION: An automobile collision energy absorption component 1 according to the present invention comprises: a cylindrical member 3 formed using a hat cross-sectional member having a top plate part 7a and a vertical wall part 7b; a coating film formation member forming, in a portion including a corner part 7c coupling the top plate part 7a and the vertical wall part 7b on respective internal surfaces of the top plate part 7a and the vertical wall part 7b, a coating film 13 disposed with a space 11 of 0.2 mm or more and 3 mm or less left from the internal surface of the top plate part, the internal surface of the vertical wall part and an internal surface of the corner part, the coating film formation member being made of a material lower in strength than the cylindrical member; and the coating film 13 made by electro-deposition coating formed in the space 11.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
