To provide a mobile robot and an auxiliary wheel that are able to improve use experience of a robot by increasing the height of an obstacle that the robot can straddle and by improving the passage rate of the robot.SOLUTION: A mobile robot comprises a body and, on a bottom portion of the body, an obstacle straddling unit 20 is provided. Assuming that a traveling direction of a robot is forward, the obstacle straddling unit 20 comprises a first rolling wheel 210 and a second rolling wheel 220 arranged one behind the other. A distance from the lowest point of the first rolling wheel 210 to the bottom portion of the body is shorter than a distance from the lowest point of the second rolling wheel 220 to the bottom portion of the body, and the diameter of the first rolling wheel 210 and the diameter of the second rolling wheel 220 are not equal. The first rolling wheel 210 first comes into contact with an obstacle to raise a machine, the robot further travels and the second rolling wheel 220 comes into contact with the obstacle to straddle the obstacle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
