To provide an optical element that utilizes a Fresnel structure, with which pasting (joining) is easy and warpage is suppressed.SOLUTION: An optical element comprises: a first optical element in which a concave lens 10a1 of a Fresnel structure is formed on one principal surface and the other principal surface facing this principal surface has a planar shape; and a second optical element in which a convex lens 10a2 of the Fresnel structure, with the absolute values of refractive index and focal distance almost equal to the concave lens, is formed on one principal surface and the other principal surface facing this principal surface has a planar shape. The first and second optical elements are joined together in a state in which a first plane of the first optical element having a planar shape and a second plane of the second optical element having a planar shape face each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
