To cause an inspection device to move up to a high place along an inspection object cable (a rope) without requiring a large-sized travelling device.SOLUTION: An autonomous travelling unit 4 comprises: a climbing device 10 that includes a tire 12 to be pressed against a cable 3, and a motor 13 rotatingly driving the tire 12; a braking device 20 that is anchored to the climbing device 10, and causes the climbing device 10 to stand still on the cable 3 in a releasable way; and a sheave 31 that is anchored to the climbing device 10, in which a traction rope is hanged. The autonomous travelling unit 4 is attached so as to surround one part of the cable 3, and is caused to climb to a top end part of the cable 3. To a tip of the traction rope to be hung on the sheave 31, an inspection device is anchored. By winding up other end of the traction rope, the inspection device anchored to the tip of the traction rope is caused to move toward the sheave 31 along the cable 3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
