To provide a steering column device capable of suppressing variation in sliding torque per individual piece to be manufactured, and to provide a manufacturing method of the steering column device.SOLUTION: A column shaft 3 constituting a steering shaft comprises: an intermediate shaft 12 in which a fitting part 14 having a fitting hole 15 is formed; and an input shaft 21 to be press-fitted to the fitting part 14. A key ring 51 is fitted to the intermediate shaft 12 via a tolerance ring 52 having a spring part 57 capable of elastically deforming in a radial direction in the outer periphery of the fitting part 14. In assembling the key ring 51, a cylindrical member 53 is fitted to the outer periphery of the fitting part 14 after the input shaft 21 has been press-fitted to the fitting hole 15, and the cylindrical member 53 is subjected to plastic deformation so that an outer diameter of the cylindrical member 53 is a predetermined outer diameter by using a restraining tool 61 and a movable tool 62. Further, when the outer diameter of the cylindrical member 53 has become the predetermined outer diameter, the key ring 51 is press-fitted to the tolerance ring 52 and the outer periphery of the cylindrical member 53.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
【課題】製造される個体毎のすべりトルクのばらつきを抑制できるステアリングコラム装置及びステアリングコラム装置の製造方法を提供する。【解決手段】ステアリングシャフトを構成するコラム軸3は、嵌合穴15を有する嵌合部14が形成された中間シャフト12、及び嵌合部14に圧入される入力軸21を含み、キーリング51は、嵌合部14の外周において径方向に弾性変形可能なバネ部57を有するトレランスリング52を介して中間シャフト12に嵌合される。キーリング51の組み付けに際して、入力軸21が嵌合穴15に圧入された後の嵌合部14の外周に円筒状部材53を嵌合させ、拘束治具61及び可動治具62を用いて円筒状部材53の外径が所定外径となるように該円筒状部材53を塑性変形させる。そして、円筒状部材53の外径を所定外径とした後に、キーリング51をトレランスリング52とともに円筒状部材53の外周に圧入する。【選択図】図4
