To recommend a travelling lane for an own vehicle to travel smoothly even if a road environment or a communication environment in which travelling history data has not been significantly developed is not good.SOLUTION: The travelling lane recommendation method includes: detecting road surface paint on road surfaces of a plurality of lanes ahead of an own vehicle; calculating a remaining proportion relative to a region when the detected paint on the road surface was first applied as an existing proportion; comparing the existing proportion of paint on the road surface of an own lane in which the own vehicle travels to an existing proportion of paint on a road surface of an adjacent lane adjacent to the own lane; and recommending the lane with an existing proportion whichever is smaller, as a traveling lane.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
