To provide a terminal device which has a speech recognition function and can effectively utilize a plurality of mutually different server devices, a method of controlling the terminal device, and a program.SOLUTION: There is provided a terminal device that is mounted on a vehicle, and that has: two or more preprocessing sections which perform preprocessing corresponding to two or more server devices among a plurality of server devices having a speech recognition function for speeches in a cabin which are picked up by a microphone; and a communication control section which uses a communication part to transmit the speeches having been preprocessed by the two or more preprocessing sections respectively to corresponding server devices.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
