To provide a rudder for a vessel having a bearing gap measuring device capable of automatic measuring of bearing gap and with low frequency of maintenance.SOLUTION: A bearing gap measuring method includes a rudder shaft 14 arranged in a trunk pipe 12, a rudder plate 16 connected to the rudder shaft, a bearing bush 32 arranged in between the trunk pipe and the rudder shaft, and in addition a bearing gap measuring device 25 and the bearing gap measuring device is provided with at least one sensor for no abrasion measuring of the bearing gap.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
