To provide a power transmission shaft of which cost reduction and weight saving can be achieved, and is surely damaged when a prescribed load is inputted in an axial direction.SOLUTION: A shell 2 is used for a power transmission shaft 1 made of a fiber-reinforced plastic which transmits power by rotating. The shell 2 comprises: a cylindrical body part 10 with an axis O1 as a center; and a second connection part 30 which is continuous with an end of the body part 10 and to which a stab shaft 4 (connection member) is joined. A fragile part 50, which is damaged when a load inputted in an axis O1 direction exceeds a specified value is formed on the body part 10. A linear breaking part 51 is formed on an outer peripheral surface 15 of the fragile part 50.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】低コスト化及び軽量化を図れるとともに、軸線方向に所定の荷重が入力したときに確実に破損する動力伝達軸を提供する。【解決手段】回転することで動力を伝達する繊維強化プラスチック製の動力伝達軸1に用いられる管体1である。管体2は、軸線O1を中心とする筒状の本体部10と、本体部10の端部に連続し、スタブシャフト4(連結部材)が接合される第二接続部30と、を備えている。本体部10には、軸線O1方向に入力された荷重が所定値を超えると破損する脆弱部50が形成されている。脆弱部50の外周面15には線状の破断部51が形成されている。【選択図】図2
